Bluebella: The Brand You Should be Wearing this Valentines

With Valentine’s Day on the horizon and with no opportunity to do anything outside of the house, I’m sure those who aren’t single are looking for something to wear, perhaps a spot of lingerie, to make the day a little bit more interesting. I have spoken a lot about Lounge Underwear on my blog and I might like a bit of Lounge Underwear for my everyday, slightly sexy, comfortable underwear but if I am looking for downright sexy then Bluebella is my go to brand.

Bluebella

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Bluebella, let me give you a brief rundown of the brand. Bluebella is a British brand created in 2005 so it isn't that old but it has taken the lingerie market by storm. On the Bluebella website they describe the brand, 'Fashion-led luxurious lingerie and nightwear collections designed for spirited and style conscious women. Bluebella is a lingerie brand with strength and modernity at its heart; created to redefine sensuality.' (BluebellaI first spotted the brand in John Lewis where I instantly fell in love with the slightly risque, yet well structured designs which were high quality but not as pricey as some of the other brands that I buy from.

Ever since I discovered the brand I have continued to love their designs and how they make me feel. Not only that but if you look at their website or Instagram, they use a diverse cast of models and it is something that even the most inclusive brands seem to miss. When I see ads for Bluebella I see women with small boobs like myself which makes it easier to see myself wearing the underwear which to be honest is not something I see with many other brands. Yes Lounge Underwear do a good job but there are no small boobs to be seen and don't get me started on Victoria's Secret. Agent Provocateur manage to show small boobed women so why can't everyone else? Having said that there are no plus sized models in sight when it comes to Agent Provocateur which is disappointing. Bluebella definitely win when it comes to re-imagining lingerie advertising and doing what every brand should be doing which is including everyone. Their social media is a testament of how diversity within modelling can be done.

Redefining Confidence

For a long time I felt really self conscious and to some extent I still feel that way but one thing that has helped me is wearing lingerie in my day-to-day life. I've always had very small boobs and when I was younger I felt ashamed because it was the trend for women to have massive fake boobs but over the years small boobs have become the fashion. This might not have really changed my outlook on my boobs; instead it was swapping out my padded, ultra-boost bras for bralettes and skimpy lace bras that made me truly appreciate and love my small boobs.

The confidence that wearing pieces from Bluebella gives me makes an actual difference to the way I present myself. Even though no one tends to see the undies I am wearing, it makes me feel powerful to know that even under my worst outfits I have something a bit daring on underneath. Just knowing under my plain grey jumper that I am wearing a lacy black bra makes me hold my head a little bit higher. It is similar to the way that putting on a beautiful pair of heels or a bold red lip makes you feel like you can take on the world. Wearing lingerie is my lipstick or heels, it is just a little bit more hidden.

The Designs

Some of the designs from Bluebella are daring whilst others are just downright sexy. There are a lot of cutouts and bandage inspired pieces with tons of lace. The designs are gorgeous and they are genuinely unique, you can find all sorts of Lounge Underwear copies on websites like Missguided but I've never seen copies of Bluebella designs and even if brands did copy Bluebella, there is no way they could match the quality.

As well as the stunning designs which have clearly been carefully put together, it is honestly rare to find a brand that creates lingerie of such a high quality and which is beautifully constructed for a reasonable price. I have quite a few pieces from the brand ranging from velvet bralettes to lace balcony bras with cutouts in the side and I have never been disappointed with a single item I have purchased.

Each individual style is so different but all of them are completely beautiful but I must say if you are looking for colour you will not find it on Bluebella; it is a lot of black, red and the occasional seasonal shade. This seasons shade is a beautiful powder blue that would look stunning on every skin colour.

Not only can you buy lingerie but they also sell nightwear, robes, hosiery and even harnesses. I cannot say that I would have previously looked at harnesses but the collaboration with Jessica Fang is absolutely stunning and all of them seem to provide an elegance whilst being supremely sexy. I had never thought about giving a harness a go before but I would happy wear any of the 3 in this collaboration.

Personally I will be looking to add the Sawyer set to my collection next time I can find a discount code for the website but take a look at the website and see which styles stand out to you - BluebellaI love brands like Lounge Underwear and I buy from them all the time but I do think they don't quite hit the mark on truly sexy styles, their Intimates range do but they cost upwards of £80 whereas Bluebella is much cheaper and much sexier.

I have always assumed a lot of people knew about Bluebella but I'm beginning to think it is a hidden gem among the lingerie world so what better time than Valentine's to shine a light on such a beautiful lingerie brand. With their sexy and sophisticated designs you are sure to impress this season, whether you are looking to show off to your partner or if you just want to feel good about yourself, Bluebella will give you a big confidence boost and won't cost nearly as much as a set from Agent Provocateur

Have you tried Bluebella? What do you think of their underwear?
