Guerlain "The Foundation Brush" review

I was strolling through Ici Paris looking for some nice eyeshadows when I noticed they had started to add autumn collections to the shelves. Now, Autumn collections don't really get me fired up. Oh, so you made a palette with moss shades? How original, I don't even like moss eyeshadows.

But one thing caught my eye. A sort of plasticy looking foundation brush by Guerlain that seemed to have very soft hairs, and very dense.

I had a 21% discount so that turned 43 into 34 euros, which isn't bad for a Guerlain foundation brush, right?

It came in a stylish black box and a small black etui to protect the brush. The brush really looks barbie like, don't you thing? A little fifties? With the pale plastic.

But the brush hairs though, they are so dense they almost make a flat surface, but a very flexible one, one that adjust to the shape of every part of the face. I already have a good foundation brush, the one by Mac, that has a layer of short hair and a layer of long hair. The longer hairs get behind the nostrils really good and the short hair kind of prevent the product from going too deep into the hairs. It's easy to clean and it gives perfect coverage. But, I don't like Mac for taste reasons, so could this brush compete? The hair are shorter so it doesn't so far out to the sides of the nose, but the density of the hair makes up for it. Application goes a lot faster with this brush because of it. I have to manoeuvre it a bit more, but the surface is bigger and there are more hairs, so the products spreads super super fast. I'm amazed at how quickly I did my foundation.

The hairs are so soft and dense that they seemed to sort of hug that one little dry spot I had, covering that perfectly also. The hairs felt slightly less soft than the Mac ones for some reason but it 's only a very small difference.

This is definitely better than the 35 euro foundation brush I had from Mac. It's just a lot faster.

There's only one thing, it really reminded me of something I tossed in the bin a few years ago...

That's it, the H&M kabuki brush! Well, I never considered applying foundation with that one, only powder, and I didn't like the short stem and the way every product seemed to stain the hairs. But it does look alike! Maybe Guerlain makes their brushes from old H&M brushes from the bin, lololol!

Anyway, I can definitely recommend this foundation brush by Guerlain, for 43 euros at Ici Paris or any other big perfumery.
