With the rise of Chrome nails, Nails Inc have created their own alternative to the Gel favourite but it is in a polish version. I've spoken about the Sally Hansen Color Therapy chrome polish I was wearing none stop during July but I recently bought the Nails Inc equivalent in the shade Hell for Metal. Hell for Metal is everyone's bronze dream with a silver glitter running through it. I originally saw this on the Cult Beauty Instagram and then I sought it out in store. The description of this range is 'No Fuss. No Powder. Just Polish' which is exactly why I love these chrome polishes; you can do them yourself, you don't have to buy one of those stupid powders which never work out when you try doing it yourself and it can be changed when you want. That was one of the reasons I loved the Sally Hansen one so much. I find polish so much easier, plus they are not as damaging as getting your nails done every month. Recently I have had some trouble with the quality/hydration of my nails so they haven't been looking their best but they are back on track now.
I had high hopes for this polish as at £15 it is almost double the price of the Sally Hansen one. However I have not been left disappointed. The formula is the usual quality of any Nails Inc polish, the colour glides on with the wide domed brush, it covers and fills in most cracks on the nails so the colour looks smooth and it lasts a good 4 days without chipping too much. This is easy to apply and it dries quite quickly for a nail polish. Additionally you only really need two coats to get the full colour. As you can probably tell from the pictures it doesn't look the best on dumpy nails like mine but on longer nails this would look stunning.
When you first apply this polish it has a very glossy finish which really helps to emphasis the chrome effect. However this gloss does fade over time and it gone within a few days. Once the shine has gone this doesn't look quite as chrome and it sort of loses its magic so you do have to reapply this quite regularly. Not only does the shine go quite quickly but the chrome isn't quite as polished as the Sally Hansen version. The Sally Hansen polish has a fine shimmer so when it is applied it looks like a shimmer powder rather than glitter. However the Nails Inc polish looks like more of glitter. It has a more chunky look and it has a little bit of silver glitter in it rather than being a straight bronze.
Even though this is slightly more glittery I think the colour of Hell for Metal is more appropriate for the Summer/Autumn months as it is warmer than the Sally Hansen polish in Powder Room. Sally Hansen does have a bronze colour but it is a lot more golden bronze and I prefer this soft silvered bronze. The subtle warmth is what I have loved about it and it is the reason why it was in my favourites for August. It is a chrome finish but it isn't as stark as the gunmetal chrome which has been popularized in nail salons. Nails Inc have made an easy alternative to chrome powders (as the name would suggest) and personally I really like it. They have four shades in the range but this one really stood out to me. There is a silver, a pale mint and a purple. I feel like the others might be nice if you were going to a festival but for me they wouldn't be an everyday sort of shade whereas I've been wearing Hell for Metal to work.
As I've said before I find the chrome nail polishes so much easier than getting my nails done every couple of weeks and also they are good for covering my recovering nails from a bad gel nails addiction. My name is Sophie and I love getting my nails done. This has filled a void that I didn't think could be filled by a standard polish. Chrome nails are definitely a trend which is dying down but if you are holding on to it like me then I think the Nails Inc or the Sally Hansen polishes are both worth a try. They are both good in their own right, it just depends on your budget and the shades you prefer.
