$4.2 Million 24 Carat Gold Disney Christmas Tree

     For those looking to glitz up Christmas this year a jewelry store in downtown Tokyo has just the thing.  Tanaka Kikinzoku, a Tokyo-based jeweler, has created a $4.2 million dollar revolving Christmas tree featuring Disney characters.  The solid gold tree is crafted from 88 pounds of gold and sports ornaments of 50 Disney characters including Micky Mouse, Tinker Bell, and Cinderella.  It's also draped with ribbons of gold leaves and a gold chain.  The tree topper?  A silhouette of Mickey Mouse's head.

     Disney invited the jeweler, who specializes in precious metals, to come up with the design to commemorate the 110th birthday of Walt Disney.  It took two months to design and create the tree, with the work spread among 10 artisans.  All of the characters were carved and polished by hand.
     For those with less ready cash, the store offers a scaled down version that features 20 Disney characters for a mere $243,000!
